Erratic Driving Stop Leads To DUI Charge For Greenwich Man, Police Say

A man from Greenwich has been charged with DUI after police say he was pulled over for driving erratically.

Greenwich Police say they initiated a traffic stop after observing a motorist driving erratically near the area of Greenwich Avenue and West Putnam Avenue on Sunday, July 14 around 2 a.m.

Further investigation revealed that the driver, identified as Said Karrout, 58, of Greenwich, was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, according to police.

Karrout was asked to participate in a series of field sobriety tests, which police say he did not pass.

Karrout was arrested and charged with DUI, failure to maintain lane and failure to signal. He was released on a $240 bond and is scheduled to appear at Stamford Superior Court on Monday, July 29.
